Hair Vitamins

Seeing a lot of vitamin supplements in the market that claim to work wonders on your hair, it is natural to wonder if we really require them or if they will transform our hair in the manner claimed by the manufacturers. The actual fact is, if your diet is healthy, varied and nutrition rich and if you don’t have any real disease or deficiency, you don’t need any supplements or vitamins aids.

Eating foods rich in Vitamin A act as an antioxidant and will help the body produce the requisite sebum for the scalp.

Vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid is essential to prevent premature graying and hair loss so include whole grains and eggs in your diet.

Vitamin B3 (Niacin) as well as Vitamin E are essential for good circulation in the scalp which aids growth of hair so eat a lot of nuts and green leafy vegetables.

Vitamin B6, among other things aids production of melanin of the pigment that colors our skin and hair.

So if you take care to eat a balanced, healthy diet there is generally no need to take a vitamin supplement for your hair.

Normal Hair Loss or Male Pattern Baldness?

A recent study has found that there may be a simple but effective method of determining whether the shedding of hair of the average person owes itself to hair loss in the regular course or whether it is due to male pattern baldness.

While it is commonly held that the average human scalp loses about a 100 hairs on a daily basis, there is as yet no conclusive method of proving exactly why the hair falls.

This recent study however suggests finding answers to this by the simple expedient of combing the hair for 60 seconds, and thereafter counting the number of hairs lost. This would help in assessing whether the hair lost if due to problem hair loss, i.e. male pattern balding or normal hair loss. Researchers have opined that this test may be a simple but effective assessment for hair loss in both men and women.

Head Massage for Healthy Hair

Hair or scalp massage is a simple, effective method to improve the health of your hair. You can do this yourself at home just by taking a few minutes every day.

Hair massage helps improve blood circulation in your scalp, and the hair follicles benefit from it. Regular and systematic massage of the scalp can help prevent unnecessary hair fall and can relax and calm you. Some experts believe that this can also keep headaches and migraines at bay.

Using the tips of your fingers (not the nails), gently but firmly stimulate the scalp, starting at the hair line and moving all the way over and around the head. We shall cover specific techniques of hair massage in detail later.

So the next time you are watching something on TV or even washing your hair in the shower, remember to take a few minutes to perform this little service for your hair. Your hair will thank you for it!
