Normal Hair Loss or Male Pattern Baldness?

A recent study has found that there may be a simple but effective method of determining whether the shedding of hair of the average person owes itself to hair loss in the regular course or whether it is due to male pattern baldness.

While it is commonly held that the average human scalp loses about a 100 hairs on a daily basis, there is as yet no conclusive method of proving exactly why the hair falls.

This recent study however suggests finding answers to this by the simple expedient of combing the hair for 60 seconds, and thereafter counting the number of hairs lost. This would help in assessing whether the hair lost if due to problem hair loss, i.e. male pattern balding or normal hair loss. Researchers have opined that this test may be a simple but effective assessment for hair loss in both men and women.
