Split Ends: The Facts
Fact 1 : Split Ends cannot be repaired. No matter what a lot of products proclaim to be able to do, once your hair shaft is split at the end, there is no reversing of this process. The only option is to cut off the split end. You cannot ‘mend’ a split end; products that promise that will only temporarily glue split ends together. And this can be cause for more damage later. Instead trim hair regularly and between trims you can trim split ends yourself.
Fact 2 : Only prevention is possible, not cure. Minimize the number of chemicals you put in your hair, use a correct washing technique, do not expose hair to too much heat (this includes direct exposure to strong sun light as well as using frequently and for too long items such as hair dryers, curling irons and flat irons). Also be kind to your hair by oiling the tips with olive oil before a shampoo.
Fact 3 : If you have spit ends now, do not despair, it is possible to get rid of them and not have them recur with a little bit for TLC for the hair!
