Sulphate Free Shampoos

One hears a lot about Sulphate free shampoos, which are supposed to be so good for your hair because they don’t strip either the natural moisture of your hair nor so they strip color from hair. Some also make the claim that Sulphate free shampoos make hair straighter.

While some consumers are frankly skeptical about Sulphate free shampoos, dismissing them as something dreamt up by marketing companies, some agree that shampoos free from Sulphate (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) are in fact beneficial.

The way Sulphate shampoos work is like this: that they clean the hair by getting rid of dirt and oil but also getting rid of the natural oils of the scalp and therefore require a conditioner according to some. When using a Sulphate free shampoos one needs to scrub the scalp a bit more than usual and since Sulphate free shampoos don’t lather up that well they may feel a little different to use as well.

Another thing to consider is that by using Sulphate free shampoos you are releasing less sulphate pollution into the water that goes down the drain.
