Patch Test for Hair Color
Even those among us who have been used to visiting the salon for hair coloring requirements, will think twice about this avoidable expenditure in these times of economic stringency. There is definitely the option of coloring hair at home and if you have not done this before, it is absolutely necessary that you do the patch test for an allergic reaction to hair color.
It isn’t just a statutory requirement; this is an important thing to do when you decide to color your hair at home. There is a specific chemical found in many hair dyes and colors, Para-phenylenediamine which can cause an allergic reaction. It could cause an allergic reaction ranging from an itchy or red scalp to red or swollen face!
So if you do decide to use a new hair color product, remember to follow the instructions to do a patch test: a small dab behind the ear is a good idea. If there is any irritation, redness and sensitivity, don’t use the product. Remember it could be much more expensive to treat the allergic reactions that the amount you will lose through the wasted product!
