Organic Hair Color? A Misnomer?

For reasons such as concern for the environment, or because one has very sensitive skin that is allergy prone or simply because one doesn’t like harsh chemicals, the word organic has instant appeal. Organic hair dye, or organic hair color, similarly seems very appealing although it does seem impossible to make something like this in an organic way.

In fact it is impossible; currently there is no hair color product that contains no Ammonia or Peroxide or p-Phenylenediamine or diaminobenzene=AD. There may be some hair colors that exclude one of these ingredients or have them in very low proportions but really speaking, organic hair color is a bit of a misnomer; a contradiction of terms.

The fact is that these ingredients may be in lower quantities that makes certain hair colors more environmentally friendly or healthier for your body than others. The base used may be flax and soy, however the chemical ingredients are not eschewed altogether. Certain natural plant extracts may also be included, such as rosemary, walnut husk, grapefruit seed extract, essence of certain flowers etc. which one may look out for.

The Connection Between Vitamin E and Hair Loss

Vitamin E is supposed to be good for a bunch of things; including the skin, the heart etc. and now it seems it is great for the hair as well; even going so far as to prevent hair loss. How it works is by helping growth of capillaries:

The growth of capillaries helps hair to grow by improving circulation and speeding up the growth of hair as well. Vitamin E is a great source of nutrition for the hair and so can prevent split ends from occurring, and can help to smooth dry hair that has suffered a lot of maltreatment with a hair dryer too.

Vitamin E can either be taken internally, as in swallowing the capsules. However before consuming Vitamin E capsules, be sure to consult a physician about dosage since excessive Vitamin E can be toxic.

Vitamin E can also be applied to the hair. Cut open the capsules and blend well into the hair. Blend enough that your hair feels almost oily and then about an hour later, you can shampoo it out for smooth, manageable and silky hair.
