Green Trend in Hair Care
If you have noticed, the words ‘Gentle’ or ‘Mild’ do feature rather prominently and repeatedly on hair care products these days. This is a trend not only good for the hair, since by definition the ingredients of the product would be more gentle and less harmful, but also the use of less harsh chemicals and fewer artificial ingredients is also good for the environment.
If your favorite hair color has just announced that it is going ammonia free, this may be good for your hair as well as the environment. Producing products that are “Paraben Free” means that harmful additives and preservative were avoided when making it. “Sulphate Free” would mean that the foaming agent that many of us (erroneously) associate with the process of actual cleaning of the hair, has been avoided. Some items give artificial fragrances, silicones and petrochemicals the miss, and therefore offer a gentler product.
By all means consider if a particular product is suitable for your hair type and your requirements before buying it, but also consider the fact that some products are better for the environment than others; so perhaps it is a good idea to choose them over others?
