Homeopathy for Hair Loss?

Many people dismiss homeopathy as nothing more that suggestive quackery, but others may swear to successfully reversing and curing any number of health problems with homeopathy. So it is with hair loss – while some say it works for them, others claim to have had no benefit.

Common hair problems such as air fall, dandruff, alopecia aerata, premature graying of hair, brittleness of hair, split ends, dry scaly scalp etc. can be helped with homeopathy, according to many users.

The way that homeopathy works is by getting, literally, to the root of the problem. If there is hair fall, is this due to some other bodily disorder? If there is premature graying, is this due to some deficiency or other problem in the body?

Various factors such as bad hygiene, substance abuse, pregnancy and childbirth, lifestyle habits, chronic conditions, hormonal imbalances and so on are looked at before arriving at the correct homeopathic treatment for hair problems.

Homeopathy is admittedly effective for a great many people, and is reason enough to give it a try, particularly when other solutions have proved ineffectual. Another reason to give homeopathy a try is that the dosages are so low as to have no side effects and hence is a completely safe treatment.

Hair Loss Meds Sexual Side Effects Could Persist

We have spoken before, about the possible side effects of hair loss medications and new research reported by Web MD tells
us that the sexual
side effects may persist even after the drugs are discontinued
.

It is the medications that shrink enlarged prostates and treat male pattern baldness (called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors) that are thought to have the side effect of sexual dysfunction due to their use since they block the action of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), an androgen that’s more potent than its precursor, testosterone.

Manufacturers have always claimed that these side effects are temporary, and will disappear when the person stops taking the medicine. However the new study points out that the side effects of sexual problems could persist even after the person stops taking the drug.

It is hair loss medications such as Avodart, Propecia, and Proscar which could be responsible for side effects such as loss of sex drive, depression, anxiety, erectile dysfunctions, growth of male breasts, and also problems with fertility. There is the apprehension that these side effects could be persistent or irreversible.

Feed your Body to Feed your Hair

You are what you eat – this isn’t just a cliché but actual fact – what you feed your body, has to feed your hair as well. There is more to great hair than just vanity and good looks.

Anthropologists think of great looking hair as being able to do more – good and healthy hair indicates to the opposite sex that this is a prime and healthy example of femininity or masculinity. So what should you eat to feed that hair?

  • Foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids, and polyphenols help to keep hair shiny – think salmon, nuts, green tea
  • Brightly colored foods such as fruit are rich in vitamin C which help make collagen and give structure to the hair
  • Vitamin B (particularly vitamin B-6 and folic acid) are great for the hair since they improve blood circulation to the hair. Eat beans, whole grains and other item rich in this vitamin to help encourage growth
  • Dark green and leafy veggies are just so good for the body and similarly good for the hair. Eat broccoli, spinach, Swiss chard to help the body produce natural oils to keep the hair healthy.
