Feed your Body to Feed your Hair

You are what you eat – this isn’t just a cliché but actual fact – what you feed your body, has to feed your hair as well. There is more to great hair than just vanity and good looks.
Anthropologists think of great looking hair as being able to do more – good and healthy hair indicates to the opposite sex that this is a prime and healthy example of femininity or masculinity. So what should you eat to feed that hair?
- Foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids, and polyphenols help to keep hair shiny – think salmon, nuts, green tea
- Brightly colored foods such as fruit are rich in vitamin C which help make collagen and give structure to the hair
- Vitamin B (particularly vitamin B-6 and folic acid) are great for the hair since they improve blood circulation to the hair. Eat beans, whole grains and other item rich in this vitamin to help encourage growth
- Dark green and leafy veggies are just so good for the body and similarly good for the hair. Eat broccoli, spinach, Swiss chard to help the body produce natural oils to keep the hair healthy.
