Diet to Prevent Hair Loss

There are things you can eat to prevent hair loss at least to an extent. So eat the following to try and keep hair fall to the minimum-

  • Oats have zinc, iron and omega-6 fatty acids, nutrients essential for good hair
  • Walnuts have the most omega6, the B vitamins and protein
  • Eggs are packed with goodness
  • Fatty fish such as salmon – a great source of healthy oil, Vitamin B12 and iron
  • Swiss Chard helps contend with brittle hair prone to breakage because of its biotin content
  • Low fat dairy is also great for the hair because of the calcium and protein it contains. The whey and casein in products such as skim milk, yoghurt, cottage cheese and so on are great for the hair
  • Oysters and shrimp – these wonders of the sea also contain nutrients good for the hair
  • Flaxseeds are known to promote scalp health and growth of hair

If you eat healthy, with the accent on fresh produce rather than canned, processed or preservative laden food, you know that you’ve done your bit to encourage hair growth. As for your genes; well there’s little you can do about those!
